I’m not sure whether or not I’ve always been a basic person. Sometimes I follow the crowd and other times I don’t really get the hype, but when it comes to being a mom, well…basic is where it’s at.

Because basic is leggings, SUVs, yoga, pizza, and Netflix during your downtime and I mean, who can argue with that?

If the 10 signs below could be pinned to your chest, you’re basic, too. Embrace it.

#10. Memes give you life.

Particularly ones about motherhood, the carpool line, or Target.

#9. Coffee is life.

Bonus points if you drink it out of a mug that has a funny saying about being a mom and/or joke about how many times you’ve warmed up your latest cup in the microwave.

#8. Friday nights are for Netflix and the good snacks.

With the baby monitor and a glass of wine – if no one wakes up, you’ll feel like you’ve had an epic win of a weekend.

#7. You own more than a few versions of “the uniform.”

Leggings or yoga pants, a t-shirt with a kitschy saying on it, and Toms (or Uggs). You know the drill and honestly, why would you wear anything else?

#6. You’re never on time.

It was hard enough to get out of the house on time when it was just me, and now there are two other people to wrangle out the door, as well? It’s impossible, and that’s on the days when my toddler doesn’t wait until he’s strapped in his car seat to inform me that he’s pooped.

#5. You can’t get by without Target (or Amazon Prime).

Target is for wandering and grabbing all of the goodies you didn’t know you needed (coffee in hand and preferably kid-free) and as for Prime, why would you pay for shipping on literally anything unless you were being held at gunpoint?

#4. Instagram is essential.

How else are you going to get all of the use out of your carefully crafted hashtags?

#3. Your house is adorned with professional photos.

Maternity, newborn, six-months, annual, and those adorable mini-shoots photographers offer with the changing of the seasons – you’ve got them all, and there’s a big old canvas right above the fireplace.

#2. Taco Tuesday gets celebrated every single week.

Because tacos are both delicious and easy to make, plus no one in their right mind complains about it. Boom.

#1. You own a Mommy & Me outfit.

I currently do not. I need to get on that.

I’ll see you at storytime, Karen!
