If you’re still scrambling for a Halloween costume idea this year, here’s a suggestion: try a group costume! If you’ve got a group of friends or family available, a group costume makes Halloween much easier. It takes the pressure off of you to come up with a costume for yourself, AND it gives you and your pals an excuse to get together.

But friends Jamie Bell and Auburn Salcedo have taken group costumes to the next level. Since 2012, the pair, along with five other friends, have chosen a favorite actor and dressed as different characters from that actor’s career.

The friends met eight years ago, when all seven of them were hired to work for a fashion blog. Their boss wound up being difficult and drove them all to quit, but the group bonded over the experience and they stayed friends. A couple years later, the idea to do a group costume happened organically. “We really didn’t overthink it that much; it just seemed like a natural thing for a girl gang to do,” Jamie told Bored Panda.

It was such a hit the friends decided to keep doing it. Shortly after Halloween each year the group settles on an actor, and then everyone picks the character they want to be. The only year they skipped was 2017, when the friends were living in four different cities, but everyone missed the experience so much that they vowed not to skip it again. “We’re going to keep this up until we make it on The Ellen Show. Could take decades!” Jamie said.

It probably won’t take that long, because this story has already gone massively viral. Below, you can check out the gang’s costumes going back to 2012. Auburn, who portrayed the Genie, explains: “I was there for the photo but the original has me in full Genie make-up and quite honestly, it’s terrifying. Gave kids nightmares scary. In an attempt to save many people emotional trauma, I opted to have a pre-makeup photo of me added in. If you find the original you will either be frightened to your core or laugh hysterically. Seems to go both ways!”
