You’re not your kid’s friend, you’re their parent – advice that rings especially true as they grow into sassy pre-teens and teenagers who probably “hate” you more than they love you on any given day. The key to getting through the rough days and angry words is a sense of humor, something celebrity mom-of-three Jennifer Garner has proven she has in spades.
She’s read Go the F*ck to Sleep (a hilarious bedtime story you need to get your hands on if you haven’t), made a hilarious tongue-in-cheek mom advice music video, and told Jimmy Fallon that “kids are smarter than you are, so just be ready.”
It’s no surprise, then, that her Instagram is full of little parenting gems like this one, in which her nine-year-old daughter scribbled a handwritten note that said “When I grow up, I want to be a fun-killing mom, just like you!”
I mean, can we just talk about her proper use of comma and the hyphen? I know adults who can’t manage that, so Garner is clearly doing more than one thing right at home. Props.
Her caption on the photo is everything, and honestly, should encourage moms everywhere to up their fun-killing game.
“Is this a nine-year-old burn? Or the ultimate compliment? #funkillingmom #illtakealovenotehoweveritcomes”
You and me both, lady. You never know when the shady compliment is going to turn into something that makes you break out a bottle of wine with lunch.
