If you’re a person who grew up in the ’80s and was weaned on Dirty Dancing – or just a person who loves Dirty Dancing (which should cover most of us, really), then this story is going to leave you a bit conflicted.
It all started (presumably) with 24-year-old Cindy Barrientos and an unnamed female friend had a bit (or a lot) too much to drink and headed out to their local wine store to restock (as one does). One thing apparently led to another, and the women decided it was the perfect time and location to pay homage to their favorite movie.
And while there’s never a wrong time to shout your love for Dirty Dancing from the rooftops, apparently the manager did not agree, and called police because two women were “trying to re-enact a scene from the movie Dirty Dancing.”
We don’t know which scene, but I mean. It was definitely a lift of some kind, right?
According to TC Palm, officers were told the women “were believed to be intoxicated and causing a disturbance.” The two were refused service when they tried to buy alcohol and asked to leave, and the police were involved when they attempted to re-enter the store. Barrientos was later arrested on a disorderly intoxication charge, a rap sheet entry that will be fabulous conversation fodder for years to come, no doubt.
Now, it’s not cool to cause a disturbance where people are trying to buy wine, but it’s totally cool to try the lift from Dirty Dancing…and I’m not the only one feeling conflicted about this story, because Twitter totally rose to the occasion (as per usual).
I hope you enjoyed your laugh for the day!
