Most kids love drawing and art projects, but it can take years before the pictures in their heads are actually recognizable on paper (or whatever medium they prefer). As parents, we’re expected to “ooh” and “ahh” and actually know what they’re showing us years before the images look like reality at all.
My go-to response is stolen from The Babysitters’ Club, who suggested their sitters ask “can you tell me about it?” instead of the more insulting “what is it?” when a young child presents you with a masterpiece.
Only pro-level parents will be able to choose the correct inspiration behind these 6 images, though, so don’t feel bad if you fail.
I totally did.
6. What is it?
If you guessed “someone sailing a boat”, you have better eyes than I do.
5. What is it?
If you guessed “a DJ spinning records”, you hit the nail on the head.
4. What is it?
It’s Batman. I know, I thought it was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, too.
3. What is it?
If you somehow guessed “snowman” instead of “scarecrow” you’ve probably got an eye for corncob pipes.
2. What is it?
It’s a woman pregnant with twins. I was close – I guessed a woman holding two babies.
1. What is it – or who is it (hint hint)?
It’s not a dad wearing lederhosen (my guess) but Disney’s Pluto. Somehow. That poor parent.
Better go hone your parent picture guessing skills!
