Anyone who has ever named a child knows that there’s a lot of pressure that goes along with it. Do you go with something traditional? Unique? Honor family, and if so, who and how many?
You try to run all of the scenarios in your mind – possible nicknames, names that sound like body parts or something else kids will pick up on during middle school – but sometimes things just slip through the cracks.

Like they did for this couple, who named their adorable baby girl Elizabeth Anya Jane – Liz Anya for short.
She’s ten weeks old (or was when her mother posted to Reddit), and since her nickname stuck, family members began commenting that it sounded as if people were calling her “lasagna.”
Unsurprisingly, most of the responses on Reddit haven’t been exactly helpful.

Mom and Dad decided to change her name, and they told Buzzfeed that the whole thing has been a learning experience – namely the lesson that “you should never seek serious advice from anything that’s ‘peer edited.'”
Since Elizabeth’s middle names both honor family, they’ve kept them both, just switching the order. So, she’s Elizabeth Jane Anya, now. Lovely!

Mom’s advice for others out there struggling with the decisions that surround naming a baby?
“Don’t let things like this hold you back as long as the name you pick has good intentions. Honoring someone is a good thing, names that mean something are a good thing. No one but the parents get to decide. Trends come and go and your child will be judged by their name for every innocuous detail from the moment they’re born. So pick a name you really love.”
Sage advice.
But also, one good way to be a role model is to be able to admit when you’ve made a mistake.
