Feeding kids is a disheartening, soul-crushing undertaking that will break your spirit as quickly as your bank account. Kids eat a LOT, but they go through phases where they’ll only eat certain things, or when what they wanted for dinner is anything except what you’re cooking (and they probably liked that last week).
And so we go to great lengths to not only cook yummy and nutritious foods, but to make them look appealing, too.
At least, I thought I went to great lengths until I saw what this Japanese mom of three was doing with her kid’s lunches!
Etoni Mama’s daughters are 11, 9, and 7, and they are presumably as delighted as the rest of us with these yummy and intricate dishes. The chef has no prior training but she’s definitely a master of character bento, a Japanese lunchbox food style that creates meals that look like people and pop culture characters.
A coworker encouraged her to share her fun and inspiring meals on Instagram, and now people all over the world are impressed. After you take a look at 12 of the most awe-inspiring designs below, you’re going to be a fan, too!
