Like most moms, Laura Pyle of Pennsylvania tries to encourage her little ones to be independent, and to let them make choices for themselves whenever possible. She even let her kids pick out their own picture day outfits (I know, this seems like it’s super brave!), and was pleased with her daughter Addison’s choice of her favorite green dress that morning.

What Laura forgot was that photographers are all fancy pants now and use green screens to create super cheesy backgrounds for school photographs…and little Addison’s dress blended in perfectly.

When Laura received her proofs, she burst out laughing (proving she does, indeed, have a great sense of humor) at the way her daughter seemed to be wearing the background in every photo.

Since her dress was sleeveless she had arms in every picture, which meant she didn’t look like just an adorable head, and chances are the mistake is going to be something their family laughs about for years to come.

Also, she kind of looks like she had a bunch of fabulous wardrobe changes.

The pictures are funny and cute, no doubt, and will be a better memory that a simple school photo shoot.
That said, just realize that encouraging independence in your children can have unintended consequences (and remember to hold onto your sense of humor – nothing will come in more handy while navigating this experience called parenting.
